While visiting Kinderdijk to film the Dutch countryside, artist Tatiana Demkakova unexpectedly witnesses and videotapes the crash of a 747 airliner. The official version of the crash differs from what Tatiana taped, and soon she is being pursued by someone intent on destroying the video. An international chase ensues, as Tatiana first seeks only to survive and then to unmask her pursuers, who orchestrated the crash as part of a multimillion-dollar scam. This skillfully constructed first novel offers well-drawn characters, credible descriptions of American and European landscapes, and expertly developed suspense. Tatiana and her pursuers strew several countries with bodies, but the violence never overpowers the chase itself, which will appeal to fans of international thrillers such as Bill Granger’s November novels. In addition, the legal and financial skulduggery at the heart of the plot will appeal to Grisham fans. A promising debut. John Rowen
